19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour title, took control to push for a third set.

He saved four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
